Idk what to say, I just wanna say thank you for the views and nice comments I've gotten on Bsky! I have noticed two things are getting popularity with my stuff: personal updates, and making fun of AI. Well, Ed Zitron's got the AI stuff covered. But I can gleefully give updates on myself more often, especially as I passed 1.3k followers on my Bsky, and I routinely get more likes on my stuff than reposts or comments.
I will add: I gotta improve my prose. I write too fast, and I think my phrasing makes sense. Then I read something that gains some traction on Bsky, and I'm mortified at how poorly I wrote it. Recently, I posted a link to a Pivot To AI piece studying LLM users and how they're terrible people, but on Bsky I wrote it in the most jumbled, mealy-mouthed way. And I'm mortified re-reading it!!!!

My buddy Jino is currently visiting from Pittsburgh, and its been wonderful! He's really improved my life with this visit, specifically introducing me to walking long distances instead of taking public transit or biking. I am really enjoying myself a lot more, and my stamina has been increasing rapidly with his arrival! Its also just been nice to host someone. I teach him how to cook and work out properly, and he teaches me how to walk around and be more free! Its been wonderful!
I still have dozens of drafts, and haven't posted any. Its been nice having Jino here, so I haven't worked on it. I'm being gay and happy, shut up lmao.
Lilac is going strong, but I haven't launched yet. I get the feeling there is a deep hunger for a true far left party in the US, and I hope to deliver on it soon. The delay on launching is
- Building out the party platform
- Having the website ready, tested and accessible
- Threat modeling policy positions and what not
- Having a life outside of Lilac right now that involves taking care of Baba as he fights prostate cancer (he's still going strong!), my buddy staying here for a bit, hanging with friends and family generally, job hunting and gay sex occasionally!
I do post on bluesky, but less these days! I needed to curtail it a lot, and I feel like cutting back on reposts and overconfident posting has helped channel my fiery passion into the Lilac platform where it belongs. Till next time!
One week in...
the daily august posting experiment failed lmao
So a couple of notes on, well, the last post.
- I think I forgot I wanted quality over quantity, and I confused my blog with my Bluesky. I post there too much, and I figured I could swap there with here.
- I have been in a depressive slump for a week or two, but I am on the mend!
So I will be trying to post more regularly here vs. Bluesky... but dang, Bsky makes it easy to access, and Ghost is effectively desktop-only for me, limiting my ability to work regularly on here instead.
I might legit just wipe my Bluesky and start fresh. I forgot a lot of what I've posted, and the handful of times I've had posts go out wider than I expected (re: 11-20 reposts, not at all "viral" lol), they were rushed jobs that I regret not spending more time on, articulating my thoughts better. Plus, I repost A LOT A LOT, and it is kinda a bad look, imo?
I want this blog to be where I can post longer-form stuff, and fully flesh out my thoughts. And Bluesky kinda robs me of time and attention to focus on that, but its not Bsky's fault. I just gotta prioritize here over there a bit more. And stop reposting so much lmao.
AUGUST: POST A DAY MONTH

I got this blog cuz I wanted to blog regularly, but as I said in my last post, I got a bunch of things on the backburner, and I haven't really used this site a lot publically. I want to post more here, so I am going to make a goal of posting something every day for the whole month of August!
I also want to fix my URL stuff. Every time I have tried to update my site, in any way, I break it. I cannot seem to fix the YAML file for this Ghost site, no matter what, but I will make it work somehow!!!!
Also going to make a point to not post to Bluesky much, besides linking to that days post. I am on Bsky waaaaaaaay too much.
I will state again: I am doing things. Lilac is going fine, but I can't do much more given how busy I've been with my home and family life. Its why I want to cut down on my distractions and refocus on things that matter, or should matter, like Lilac, this blog and future plans for myself!
